The Mariposa Community Association (MCA/HOA) Oversight Committee’s 2024 objectives are:
Oversee MCA’s compliance with the MCA’s Governing Documents and the New Mexico Homeowner Association Act.
Oversee community management and its independence from the developer (Harvard Investments).
Monitor the City of Rio Rancho Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Board agendas and provide or coordinate written in-person input when an action item directly or indirectly impacts Mariposa.
Research and understand federal, state, and local development and environmental laws, ordinances, regulations, etc., and provide input to proposed new or revised legislation/regulations when they impact the quality of life or rights of the residents of Mariposa.
2024 Goals
Continue pressuring the MCA Board for residents’ right to a seat on the MCA Board
Continue communications with John Moscato, CEO of Sierra Norte Landholdings (the owner of Mariposa West)
Continue pressing MCA Board for requested information and documents, including the loan agreement between Harvard Investments and MCA regarding the purchase of the Community Center
Continue monitoring financial statements and compliance with governing documents and HOA Act
Poll residents of The Peaks to determine if they want to manage their reserve fund
Work with state legislators and other HOAs around the state to sponsor amendments to the HOA Act for introduction in the next legislative session
